“Zift” is a genre mixture of neo-noir and sots-art. The story unfolds in one night. Moth is freed on parole after spending time in prison on wrongful conviction of murder. Jailed shortly before the Bulgarian communist coup of 1944, he now finds himself in a new and alien world – the totalitarian Sofia of the 60s.
 
All hell breaks loose as soon as Moth walks out of jail. He tricks the bloodhounds of the communist state. He spends his first night of freedom in a breathtaking chase with time, trying to avoid fate, as he gets closer and closer to his ultimate demise.
 
His frantic flight draws the map of a diabolical totalitarian city -- decaying neighborhoods and gloomy streets, the bathhouse, the city canal, the hospital, the cathedral, the pompous works of communist architecture centered around the Mausoleum, smoky joints, bars, and finally -- the graveyard.
 
In the pursuit of truth, Moth runs into a bizarre parade of characters – agents, medics, barflies, outcasts, gravediggers and other species of the asphalt jungle. The action thickens through avalanching variety of twists and turns, sudden revelations, flashbacks, lies laid bare, hallucinations, and sensual encounters with the former love. Finally, the story ends inside the gravediggers’ trailer where all secrets are revealed.

“Дзифт” представлява жанрова комбинация от ретро-соц и нео-ноар. Филмът реализира атракционно пътуване назад във времето към една вече разпиляна социалистическа действителност по жанровите закони на черния филм.
 
Действието се развива в една нощ. Главният герой по прякор Молеца излиза от затвора в началото на 60-те години, за да попадне в един напълно нов и непознат за него свят - светът на социалистическа София. Влязъл в затвора непосредствено преди девети септември 1944, Молеца е излежал присъда за убийство без да е убиецът.

С излизането му на свобода, още с прекрачването на прага на затвора започват катастрофални перипетии и бясна надпревара с времето. Молеца се измъква от абсурдни ситуации и смъртоносни капани. В търсене на истината за миналото си той се сблъсква с паноптикум от гротескни типове, населяващи асфалтовата джунгла на града.

Трескавият бяг на Молеца очертава картата на една ретро София – крайни квартали, централната банята, Каналът, поликлиниката, черквата, кръчмата, Мавзолеят, нощният бар, гробището. Тази фатално задъхана нощ е наситена с резки обрати и перипетии, халюциниране, биографични скокове в предкомунистическото минало, сантиментални срещи с някогашната любима, предателства, мирогледни сривове и разобличения. Краят идва с настъпването на новия ден във фургона на гробарите, където тайните излизат наяве.
